Compression Springs are open wound helical springs that exert a load or force when compressed, they maybe Cylindrical, Conical, Barrel shaped or concave in form with ends left plain or ground. Compression Springs are the most popular form or spring mainly due to ease of manufacture thus giving economy whilst maintaining close tolerances on loads. Also in terms of energy storage per unit volume of material the Compression Spring is one of the most efficient types. Our raw wire stock ranges from 0.25mm dia upwards in various material types therefore should you require a quotation for a Compression Spring please use the contact us section. We can also supply springs with various coatings including Bright Zinc Plate, Phosphated etc.
Extension Springs are the direct opposite of Compression Springs in that they extend under a pulling force, but because of the need to form hooks or loops tend to be more expensive than Compression Springs. Special forms of hook necessary due to design constraints add even more expense. The other down side to this type of spring is that due to sharp bends on the hooks being stress raisers fatigue performance is generally poorer than Compression Springs. Our raw wire stock ranges from 0.25mm dia upwards in various material types therefore should you require a quotation for a Extension Spring please use the contact us section. We can also supply springs with various coatings including Bright Zinc Plate, Phosphated etc.
